A Thank You to Mike Kool

After 40 remarkable years of dedicated service, Mike Kool has decided to step down from his position as Rosedale’s Director of Tennis and Head Pro. We extend our heartfelt thanks and sincere appreciation to Mike for his mentorship, commitment, and countless contributions to the Rosedale Tennis community. Mike’s passion for the sport and devotion to our members and coaches have shaped the Club’s legacy, and we are deeply grateful for all he has done. Many of us—adults now—were once in Mike’s junior programs. Some of us send our kids to play for him today. Some of us still take lessons from him. Some of us coach alongside him. Others have even brought their families by the Club just to introduce them to Mike. To say he helped raise a generation (or two... or three...) of tennis players and community members would not be an understatement—he’s everyone’s favourite tennis dad.

Community Outreach & Support

At Rosedale, we believe tennis is more than just a game—it’s a way to strengthen community. That’s why we provide support to local groups and organizations in many ways, such as:

McMaster Women’s Tennis

Rosedale is proud to be home to the McMaster Women’s Tennis Team! Each September and October, you’ll often see high-performance players training and practicing on our courts as they head into their busy season.

The program is coached by Rosedale Pro Toni Ormond, and over the years, many Rosedale Academy alumnae have gone on to play for the team.

Let’s Go Marauders!

Rainbow Kings & Queens

“Love means nothing in tennis, but at Rosedale, it’s everything.”

The club embodies that spirit by offering free court time and lessons to the Rainbow Kings & Queens—a local group of African LGBTQ+ asylum seekers and refugees in Hamilton. This heartfelt initiative is part of Rosedale’s ongoing commitment to community, equity, and inclusion.

Friends & Family Tennis Tournament

Each year, Rosedale welcomes the community for our annual Friends & Family Tennis Tournament, a fundraiser that brings people of all ages and skill levels together. This fun round robin doubles event is all about enjoying tennis, connecting with others, and supporting a great cause.

In 2025, the tournament had a record number of participants and raised over $5,000 in a single day!

All proceeds go to The Eva Rothwell Centre.

Rosedale Tennis Club acknowledges that the land we are on is the traditional territory of many nations including the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Mississaugas of the Credit, Anishinaabe, and Haudenosaunee peoples. We honour the history, culture, and enduring connection that Indigenous peoples have with this land. As we come together to enjoy the game of tennis, we recognize our responsibility to understand and respect the significance of these lands, and we are committed to fostering inclusivity, learning, and meaningful partnerships with Indigenous communities.
